About Me

My name is Abigail Elizabeth Connor, otherwise known as "Little Miss Sunshine." I was born on July 10, 2007 at 1:42 pm. Although some might think that my adventures were about to begin at the moment of my birth, I had already had many adventures! This is my way of sharing my newest adventures and travels with my family and friends.

Well, “Good Friday” was a great day because Mommy and Daddy were home with me, but I am not sure if we would really call it “good.” We were all sick and did not feel like doing very much. But, Grandma and Grandpa did come and boosted all of our spirits! We had a very fun weekend, even though it was cold and rainy. On Sunday, which is named “Easter,” I did wear my pretty dress to church and saw the Easter Bunny! Now, I don’t know why there is a bunny rabbit celebrating Jesus. Mommy explained that the bunny rabbit is not Jesus, but it was fun meeting him anyway. After church, Nana, Uncle Rob, Aunt Jeannie and James came over and we all (along with Grandma and Grandpa, of course) had a wonderful meal. Mommy made a ham, one that was not cooked to begin with, and it was so delicious that Daddy has a whole new appreciation for ham! All I know is that I got to sit at the head of the table and squeal with delight about all of the attention. I tried some of the food, including jello. Boy did I like jello. So much that I put my hand in it, then wiped it on Daddy’s shirt. He made a face, I think because he was so happy that I gave him some of my jello. Then, James and I got to sit on the floor (in front of everyone watching and taking pictures) and pulled stuff out of a basket. I was not sure why I was getting a basket (they called it an “Easter Basket”), but I figure that it is the way that everyone, including this Easter Bunny, celebrates Jesus. Anyway, I got some cool toys and finger foods. I am getting very good at eating with my hands! I eat my finger foods like Daddy eats chips, a handful at a time. It’s funny how much of my food makes it to the floor. I think Daddy is better at getting his handful into his mouth. I will have to work on that. Although it is fun to watch Daddy and Mommy pick up the food and toys I drop on the floor.

Mommy and Trekker went on a trip to New York City, and came back with such a fun story. I wanted to ask them where “Old York” is, but since I can’t talk, I will save that for another time. This city is also called “the big apple” and since I like apples, I figure that I would like this place. Does it have lots and lots of apples? Another question I will ask when I can talk. Trekker told me about the airplane ride (which was just a brief conversation since he already told me about it before). But he was saying that when they were landing in this place, New York – the big apple, that there were lots and lots of tall shapes (he called them buildings) all over the place. They talked about their walk through the city and how there are lots and lots of people and cars honking (“HONK, HONK”, they said) and that even in the middle of the night that it sounds like the city is “awake.” Sometimes I wake up in the night and I cry, so I wondered if it sounded like me crying at night. There must be a lot of babies waking up to make up that much noise, huh. Mommy and her new boss, David, walked the 12 blocks from their hotel to their meeting. I don’t know how far 12 blocks is, but Trekker told me that it is a pretty far way. It was chilly (30 degrees) and everyone at the meeting was impressed that they walked, but Mommy said it felt like the “New York” thing to do. And for many of you who know Mommy as “fast walker,” you understand that it was not an option to just take a taxi, even though they had their luggage and work bags with them. Even I know in my short 18 months with her (remember, I had 9 months with her all the time!), that she would prefer to plow people over with her rolling suitcase on the sidewalks of the big apple than simply sit in the back of a taxi.

I am supposed to tell you that Mommy and Daddy “kicked the bucket” and it was “finger lickin’ good.” For those of you born after this commercial was on TV, we had a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, extra crispy in all its glory! No, I did not get any, but it was really funny to see the happiness on Daddy and Mommy’s face as they ate directly out of a bucket sitting on our table. Nana ate with us too, but she seemed to eat like a normal person, not with the excitement as Mommy and Daddy. This was the same weekend that our refrigerator died (again). This time we did not wait for the repair man to come but went to Sears and bought a new one. I was not sure what was going on, but every time we needed some food, Mommy and Daddy went downstairs and magically brought something new. Hmm, I thought everything magically came from the tall thing in the kitchen. Now we have a new tall thing in the kitchen, although you wouldn’t know it because it looks just like the old one. On to our next house project. Which of course we have a list of them. We are getting a new fence! All of our bushes in the back yard died and someone came and took them out in February. We just have a short fence and Mommy and Daddy want some privacy so we are getting a taller fence. A friend of Mommy’s came over with his tractor and pulled the fence right out of the ground! It was fun to watch. I have never seen a tractor. It has really big tires and has a funny spoon-thing on the front. It was really loud and he drove in on our grass. I don’t usually see anything driving on our grass, so it was great fun to watch. Doug and Tara were over too, so I told them all about the tractor and we watched the fun together.

Can you believe that I am 9 months old now? I went for my check-up and the doctor told Daddy that I am a bit of a porcelain doll. I thought this sounded good and pretty, but when Daddy told Mommy that I was a wimp, she could not believe it! Since Mommy is all about her arm muscles (she calls them “the guns”), she could not stand for her daughter not to have the same focus. So, even though I am doing lots of things well, like sitting and playing happily with my toys, I am now doing more tummy time and standing up with Mommy or Daddy right behind me. I don’t mind this, I actually like to stand and grab at things, it helps me get closer to lots of items that I could not get to before! All of this is supposed to help me crawl, which I am very close to doing! I am still going to physical therapy (a.k.a torture for a sweet little girl like me), and not only have a “collar” (they call this a necklace, but if you see it you would know it’s a collar) but now have a bright pink “rocket suit.” Both of these are supposed to help me keep my head up straight. I wear these because I am a good girl and am very tolerant, but I really wonder when all of this “therapy” will be done.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house again last weekend. Boy was it fun! Grandma had a bunch of family over on Saturday for Daddy’s cousin Judy’s bridal shower. I am not sure what a bridal shower means, but for me it meant lots of people to entertain and no sleeping. I just can’t sleep when there is a party going on! That night, Mommy and Daddy went out and I stayed with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Cin-Day, Uncle Michael, Anna, Chloe and Christian. We played and played and I had such a good time. Unfortunately, I was not that hungry when I went to bed so did not eat very much. Mommy and Daddy were out later than usual (10:30, but that is late for them!). Do you know where I am going with this story? I woke up at 4:30 hungry and awake! Mommy fed me and then tried to bring me in the bed so we could all go back to sleep. But I was not ready to go back to sleep! So Daddy walked with me for 45 minutes. I just love it when Daddy walks with me. I am not sure how he felt about it, but the next day he seemed really tired!

I have been sick again this week, but don’t worry, Mommy got it with me. I don’t like to be alone, so it’s nice that Mommy or Daddy always are getting sick with me. I stayed home one day and Mommy and Daddy each took ½ day off. I slept for seven hours so I did not get to see them very much. Mommy took me to the doctor and my ears were red but the doctor said that we should wait a day or two to see if it gets better before I get any medicine. I am all for that! I did not like going to the doctor. Mommy said it was the hardest she has heard me cry. I was so sad that I could not get myself calmed down. But, I started feeling better and went back to school to be with my friends. I did miss a “bye bye buggy” ride while I was gone, but that’s okay, because the next day we got to go outside! I wore my pretty pink hat and had such a ball riding on the “bye bye buggy” outside. I hope we get to do this every day. It reminds me of my walks with mommy every day when it was just her and me together.

Have a great weekend! We see the sun out now so maybe we can play outside for a bit.
