Mommy's Friend Colleen

Mommy did have sad news that week. Her friend Colleen’s dad died, so Mommy went to the visitation on Monday night in Dayton. Mommy has known her friend Colleen since high school and Colleen and her parents were a big part of why Mommy had such a good high school experience. When Mommy played volleyball and basketball, Colleen’s parents welcomed everyone over to their house to play games and have slumber parties. They enjoyed good, clean fun and the experience was a good influence on Mommy. Colleen’s dad was one of those guys who was larger than life and was loved completely by his family and many friends. Mommy said that his visitation was calming and peaceful, partly because people stood and told such poignant and funny stories, but also because the power was still out (from the big storm) and it was done in candle light by the end of the night. They are a Catholic family and said the rosary together as a tribute to him, and in the candlelight it was awe inspiring. It brought a greater sense that God was truly in the room. Please pray for Colleen and her family because grief comes in waves because it is too much to take in at one time so we know they will need continued support.
