I got to spend New Year’s Eve with Nana. We had such a good time, playing like we always do. Mommy put a sign up and I loved to hit it with my hand and yell “yeah!” and smiled and clapped after Nana yelled “Happy New Year!” I think I would like to have a fun sign like that up all year long. Daddy and Mommy went to Jana and Dan’s house for dinner and to watch the “ball drop.” I am not sure what type of ball drops and where it drops, but I can only imagine that it looks like one of my balls that I am very good at throwing. I don’t have a specific time when I drop my balls and sometimes it happens by accident, so I will have to learn more about this special ball that drops on this night that gets its own sign. Daddy fell asleep before midnight (the official “new year”) but did see the celebrations. This is the second year that Daddy and Mommy have celebrated with Jana and Dan so they stayed over this to watch the dare devil motorcycle jumps that happen in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve. As a bonus, this year there were two jumps. I know, Daddy, Mommy, Jana and Dan need more in their lives.
Daddy has told Mommy that it would be okay if she planned a surprise vacation for him next year for his birthday. The reason I mention this is because Daddy has started to plan it (nice surprise, huh) and Jana and Dan have invited themselves. I have heard tidbits about this vacation and have not heard my name involved. I will investigate further and let you know.
2009 has started very well for us (except for Daddy’s back, but we think it is going to get better after the shot takes effect). I got to see Nana again because Daddy and Mommy went out to surprise Dan (same Dan as New Year’s Dan) for his birthday. They went to a nice restaurant called “The Precinct” then over to Dan and Jana’s for cake. Dan was very surprised!
I love being back at school with my friends! My first week back was very fun and now I am getting ready for my transition to my new room (Toddler D). I will get to be with my friends like Jack, Jenna and Corina who already moved over and wave to me from the window. I will miss Infant C because it is combined with my first room, Infant B and I loved all of my teachers in those rooms. They love me too and I know they will come visit, so it will be okay. They just told Mommy that I am very good at cleaning up, I listen and am one of the few who wears her shoes all day long. I say hello to everyone who enters the room and love to cuddle and sit on my teachers’ laps. I can eat by myself with a spoon but have a way of getting my teachers to feed me sometimes too. I help the younger kids when I visit my old room (Infant B).

Christmas 2008
So were you wondering about Christmas? I loved Christmas. I loved the tree with all of the dangling, shiny “toys” hanging from it. Between Bella (one of our cats, whose name I can say very well) and me, we knocked many off. You will note in pictures that the tree was decorated only in the top half because of our redecorating abilities. Bella loved to climb the tree, so even some of the ornament/toys on the top of the tree made it to the floor.
I loved ripping paper. I did not care that much about what was in the paper, but people seemed to cheer once I finished the ripping so something must have been really good. I still am not sure if the response was because of a job well done ripping or the item “found” once I was finished. Was this something that they were looking for and are glad that it had been uncovered? Everyone seemed to have these lost and found items and there was lots of cheering. Who would not love Christmas? Also, I got to see my family…and to be the center of attention. Did I mention to you that I really like being the center of attention?
Our family celebrations spanned from December 21 to December 27. We had Christmas with Papaw and Great Grandmother McMinn on December 21. We went to Toledo to have Christmas with all of Daddy’s family (the Connor’s) on Christmas Eve. Santa even knew to bring my presents to Toledo because we stayed there on Christmas Day. Then Nana, Uncle David, Uncle Robbie, Aunt Jeannie, Michael and his girlfriend (Amy) and son (Hunter) came to our house on the 27th. Wow, there was lots of ripping! It was like my birthday over and over again. I knew it was not my birthday though, because it’s warm on my birthday and it has been pretty cold.
December was not the healthiest month for us. I already told you about my coughing. Daddy hurt his back and Mommy hurt her wrist. Daddy hurt his back worse than Mommy hurt her wrist. Daddy hurt his back in early December and even after he went to the Chiropractor several times it did not get better. He got a test that showed he had “bulging discs” and had to get a shot in his back. If you know Daddy, saying that he does not like shots is an understatement, so his back must have really hurt. He got his shot this week so please pray for him that it works! Mommy strained her wrist somehow, but after 3 weeks it is beginning to feel better. I still had my cough all of December. I have been to the doctor several times and even had a chest x-ray. It was just a virus they said. I guess that is good but I could have told them that without the trips to the doctor and the x-ray.

Mid-December - 2008
The next weekend there were three big events and two of them were good. First thing Saturday morning I had my 17-month check-up. Do you know what this means? Spending time with the doctor. Shots. I just cannot get it through their heads that I am not a big fan of this. After that, we went to Dayton to Nana’s new school (event number 2). It was so much fun to see the neat place that Nana gets to teach. And of course schools are great places for little girls like me to run around. Grandma and Papa came to the new school too, then they came back to our house to stay for the rest of the weekend! What a treat to see all three of them together. I didn’t even know that the fun had just begun. The next day after my nap, Mommy, Grandma, Nana and Aunt Jeannie all baked cookies at our house for an entire day (event number 3). This is our second annual event. This year I got to help too, I love the sugar cookie icing! Don’t tell Daddy, though, he has a different philosophy than Mommy when it comes to sweet treats.
I still did not feel 100% and had to go to the doctor again that next week. I try to block those things out so I don’t remember the day. I do remember that Mommy took vacation from December 18 to January 4. This is a very long time! I was home with her for most of that time. Actually, you know Mommy so we were not really “home” that much but you know what I mean. I still had my cough on December 18 so Mommy did not go to her MOPS meeting, but our dear friends Dot and Bruce from church came to see us for lunch. They even brought lunch! They played and played and read books with me, it was so much fun.
Throughout the next two weeks, we got to see many of our friends, how blessed we are to have such great friends! We had breakfasts, lunches, dinners and all of the above with family and friends. I only went to school a few times and I missed my teachers and friends. Even though I love Daddy and Mommy, I think next year I will ask them to go to school more often, they just cannot keep up with the fun of school.

Early December - 2008
Happy New Year from Little Miss Sunshine! I had such a good time during December, I simply did not have time to give an update. You would think that between the activities, Mommy would have been able to type this up for me. I might need to look for better help. For now, I will deal with what I have.
What can I say about December, 2008? Luckily, I am not tuned into the TV to know the economic or world events going on, so my days are not full of hard news. My days are full of toddling around (Mommy is constantly surprised how true this term “toddler” is). I am walking like a champ. I am even in the 25th percentile for weight! I am saying lots of words, like “nose,” “eyes,” “no,” thank you,” “please,” “eat,” and on and on. I can say my friends’ names like “Blair” and my teacher’s names, like “Tiff” (Her full name is Tiffany, but let’s not get too particular here.)
Back to December: Of course we had a calendar full of events. First we had my fever/ and coughing that did not end for the whole month. I missed “Breakfast with Santa” with my friends Colin and Patrick because I was sick. I was sick from school on December 8th and Mommy and Daddy split the day home with me. The reason I remember this so well is because Daddy’s birthday is December 9, so Mommy and I spent her half of the day running errands (don’t worry, I was not that sick) and getting Daddy a cake for his birthday. Daddy had a really good birthday and was surprised about the cake at work. For his birthday, we went to one of our new favorite restaurants called Casadores (we went there one other time with our friends the Griffiths). It was a great night because they had pitchers on sale (always a bonus) and gave Daddy a special dessert for his big day! I was feeling a bit better too, another treat for Daddy on his birthday.
