About Me

My name is Abigail Elizabeth Connor, otherwise known as "Little Miss Sunshine." I was born on July 10, 2007 at 1:42 pm. Although some might think that my adventures were about to begin at the moment of my birth, I had already had many adventures! This is my way of sharing my newest adventures and travels with my family and friends.

April 12, 2009 (Easter Weekend)

The rest of the week was busy but I was back at school so Mommy and Daddy could work. Daddy, though was feeling worse and worse and even the pain medication was not helping. Friday was “Good Friday” again. I remember writing last year how it was good but I was sick. This year it was good but Daddy was sick. And since he had scheduled his back surgery for April 16 (the next Thursday), he had to go to the hospital for bloodwork (he hates bloodwork) and his doctor for a physical (but luckily no more bloodwork). Mommy and I hung out together for most of the day. It was really rainy so we played inside and ran errands, which is always fun.

On (Good) Friday night Jana and Dan came over and brought pizza, which was really fun. We are so blessed to have them in our lives! They can’t resist me, no matter what I do to them. Jana rarely gets to eat her full meal and Dan’s face is usually pulled and twisted by me. I just love them and think I show it very well.

On Saturday, I went on my very first Easter Egg Hunt. It was at the park we usually go to swing, so my biggest concern was that I wanted to go back to the swing, not stand in the muddy field with hundreds of other children. Mommy and Daddy thought the entire situation was very unorganized, especially when the two poor teenage girls who were supposed to stop the kids from rushing the field were unable to do so and the “hunt” started five minutes early. Mommy decided that we should follow the crowd if I had any chance in picking up eggs, so we sloshed through the field to pick some up. Daddy picked up three and Mommy picked up three and put them directly in front of me. I picked them up (since they were right in front of me) and put them in my basket. Mommy took a few pictures and we left. There were still hundreds of children and families walking in when we were walking out! We gave a few eggs to some kids who were late, got in the SUV (van) and headed out. I had a good time and continued to talk about the eggs for the rest of the day.

After I woke up from my nap, Mommy and I made a cake. I really helped! I sat on the counter while she put in all of the ingredients, then I watched her pour the mixture into my very special bunny-shaped cake pan. I had to stand back while she put the cake in the oven and reminded her of the danger by continually saying “hot” and pointing to the oven. After the exciting cake-making event, she and I went for a walk. The weather was getting warmer and I was thrilled to be back on our walking path through the neighborhood. We walked all the way through the neighborhood to the duck pond. This time we did not see any ducks, but on the way back we stopped by the horse farm and saw Misty and Little Lady. One of them (Mommy could not remember which one was which) even came over to say hello to us.

That night, Nana came over! I am always surprised and excited when Nana comes to visit and I am so happy that she comes to visit often. And guess what? She brought more eggs! The next morning Nana was still there! I put on a pretty dress and we all (even Daddy with his hurting back) went to church. I loved wearing my pretty dress and everyone told me how pretty I was in it too. It was chilly so I wore a pink sweater over it, but it was still fun. When we got home, Mommy and Nana made a special meal with ham and mashed potatoes (Daddy actually made those) and even rolls and green beans. Mommy felt rushed and wished that she had made a fancier meal but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. She even made tapioca pudding, Papaw’s favorite and something that Mommy had not had in a really long time. Nana left when I was taking my nap. Boy did that make me mad when I woke up! I cried “Nana, Nana, Nana” and was not happy until we called her on the phone.

Mommy and I went for another walk after my nap on Sunday (after I was really mad and had to call Nana). This time we walked past the ducks the first time but on the way back we stopped on the grass. Two white ducks swam all the way over from the other side of the pond and disappeared. You know what they did next? They came up the bank and stood three feet from us! I just sat in my stroller and did not say a word. Mommy was pretty excited but a little nervous so picked up a stick just in case they thought we were going to give them food and got mad that we did not have any. We watched them clean their feathers and move their beaks. It was the closest I have even been to a real live duck. After they went back into the pond I cried and cried and yelled “duck, duck, duck” all the way up the hill. If you know our neighborhood, you know that I yelled for a very long time. On the way home we stopped to see the horses but they were not there. I was busy looking for dogs on the walk by this point. Luckily for Mommy, we did see a few on the way home. Otherwise I would still be talking about those ducks. Every time I get into the stroller I asked to visit the ducks.
