That Tuesday was St. Patrick’s Day, which really did not seem like anything different to me. The only thing I noticed is that Mommy took the St. Patrick’s Day decorations down. Usually on important holidays I see my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and usually get gifts. I don’t think I like this St. Patrick’s Day holiday if neither of those things happen.
At this point we thought I was on the mend. I went back to the doctor on Wednesday (March 18). The doctor said that everything looked good. The next day, though, Mommy got a call from work saying that I was not myself. She actually talked to the teachers a couple of times checking on me. Daddy picked me up and I was not myself. You know the next part, I went to the doctor. I was sick again. This time it was different though. The doctor said I was not breathing well enough and I needed a breathing treatment. I think the better name for this is “screaming treatment.” The whole experience caught Mommy and Daddy off-guard. The nurse brought in a big plastic thing with a mask and a tube. She mixed some medicine together, gave the mask to Mommy and said to hold the mask against my face for 5 minutes and she would be back. Do you remember back to the days when Mommy had to do the stretches with me and I did not like them at all and cried and cried? That was nothing compared to this. At one point someone opened the door because they heard the screaming down the hall. After the 5 minutes were over, they checked my oxygen again and it was better, which was good but concerning because it meant I might have asthma. I don’t know what asthma is but if it has anything to do with the “screaming treatments” then I don’t want to have it. I did not get any medicine from that doctor and after being so upset, I went home and went to sleep. I was still coughing, as I have been for what seems like the entire winter. Because I felt a bit better, I did go to school on Friday.
We had a pretty fun weekend after that. Most Saturday mornings I help Mommy and Daddy with the laundry. I am a very good helper with the laundry. I like to pick up the clothes from the floor and put them in the washer or the dryer. I am not particular about which clothes go into which door at this point. Then I like to shut the door. It doesn’t matter how much is in the door when I shut it either. After we have loaded the machines, I like to push all of the buttons over and over again. Luckily, they have this thing called the “child lock” that Mommy and Daddy turn on so I can’t change the cycle in the middle of washing or drying.
On Sunday we went to the zoo! It was a nice, warm, spring day, a perfect day for the zoo. I love the zoo. I loved to see the animals that I look at in books. My new favorite book is “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” and I got to see a real live polar bear. I could not touch them but boy was I close. I also saw the giraffes, the elephants, the flamingos and even the zebras. We did not go into the reptile house, Mommy does not like the reptile house so I might need to go there with someone else. The thing I loved the most was the carousel. I sat on the camel that did not go up and down the first time and the horse that did not go up and down the second time. It went round and round and by the end I was getting really good at waving to Daddy who was watching from the side. Mommy stood next to me and helped me know when it was time to wave and made sure that I did not fall off of course! I was sad when I could not ride anymore and the zoo closed.
