The next morning was Christmas Day and because I am new at this, I did not know I needed to get up at 4, 5 or 6 am. I was up so late the night before (I hope you remembered that tidbit from the paragraph before), so I slept until 8 am, which is a little late for me. I was perfectly happy hanging out with Mommy and Daddy in bed, but they said we needed to go upstairs to see if Santa came. I was not sure about this, who broke into our house? I remembered seeing Santa (and was not sure about sitting on his lap), but I was not sure about this coming to the house business. Even when I went upstairs into the kitchen and Grandma and Papa Larry were awake with the video camera (I also thought it was odd that they had the video camera out in the morning), I did not want to go to the other side of the kitchen to the tree to see about this Santa business. Mommy had to carry me around the corner and help me begin to tear the paper on a really big box. Finally, I saw the picture of the kitchen on the front of the box and was gitty to see that Santa really did bring me the kitchen I asked for!
Mommy and Daddy did learn that morning, that they should have asked Santa to assemble the kitchen. Of course I was very excited to have my new kitchen, and even more excited to play with it! It took Mommy and Papa two hours to put together the kitchen though, so you can imagine my frustration. They won’t forget that request again!
Santa brought me three gifts, just like baby Jesus received. My other two gifts were legos and a Dora plate set. The kitchen was so exciting that the legos were a bit overlooked. Luckily, Mommy and Daddy still love to play with legos, so there will be a time for them as well. We even sang happy birthday to baby Jesus. He was not in the room, but we often sing happy birthday, so I let it go.
After much fun and time putting together my new kitchen, we packed our car (it was really full with the kitchen in the back) and headed to Dayton to see Nana, Uncle David, Carmela and Papaw for Christmas. I was so excited about Christmas that I did not sleep in the car like I normally do. I fell asleep thirty minutes before we arrived at Nana’s so Mommy put me in my crib there and I did sleep for a little bit. But who can sleep on a day like this!
