Mommy and Daddy celebrated 8 years of marriage on November 9th. They started the celebration the weekend before when I went to Nana’s house for Saturday. Mommy, Nana and I did some shopping, then Mommy did more shopping when I went home with Nana. Daddy got to go to Jungle Jim’s, one of his favorite stores. It was glorious weather and everyone had a great time. I did get some sleep, but I can’t share more details than that. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed their weekend too!
On the 9th, they did not do very much, because they were planning for the Sarah McLaughlin concert, the gift they bought for each other. You might know this story, but I will share just in case. They both love Sarah McLaughlin. They had a dance instructor choreograph a waltz to “Ice Cream” and Mommy and Daddy practiced it for months so they could dance at their wedding. Daddy gave Mommy tickets to one of Sarah’s concerts as a birthday gift in 2004. Daddy had been trying to win tickets for a lunch from a local radio station for a couple of weeks, but never won. Another radio station (Q102) also had a contest, but Daddy could not figure out to get into it. On Sunday at lunch, Mommy decided that she was going to send an email to each station to share their story and see if they had any tickets to spare. She sent the note to both stations on Sunday night. Monday morning, Daddy called, emailed and texted Mommy while she was in a meeting (this is odd, they don’t talk during the day). Q102 said that they would be glad to help! It’s amazing how quickly “important” meetings get changed or cancelled when chances of a lifetime come up!
The event was at a cool restaurant in downtown Cincinnati called “Mynt Martini”. They did not know what to expect, how many people, how close they would get, etc. They were amazed and stunned at how amazing it was! First, there were only 25 people there in a small room. Because they arrived early, they got first dibs on seats and got the two closest to Sarah (about 5 feet away). The restaurant provided lunch and once everyone was finished, Sarah walked in, sat down and played three songs! Between the songs, the radio station’s DJ read questions that various people had written and he read Mommy’s question! She of course noted that they were doing this for their anniversary (and the story) and he read that too! They didn’t think it could get much better, but Sarah signed the picture of Mommy and Daddy dancing at their wedding and then they got a picture with Sarah. Wow! The concert that night was fun, but it was hard to compare to the lunch. Thank you Q102!
